St Regis Paper Company Ltd, Britain's largest manufacturer and recycler of paper, has chosen Custom Consoles' furniture for the central control room at one of its production plants. Located at Wansbrough Mill in Watchet, Somerset, the plant manufactures coreboard, corrugated and envelope paper. Wansbrough Mill produces around 150,000 tonnes of paper each year and can convert in excess of 50,000 tonnes of coreboard.

Custom Consoles has provided an 8 metre U-shaped Module-R desk with storage drawers, an M-Desk, a meeting table with matching book-case, four Status Seating Endurance chairs, and two Ergotron tilting wall mounts to support 42 inch flat-panel video monitors. All the wooden surfaces are finished in oak.

Adrian Clark, Divisional Process Control Engineer at St Regis Paper, comments:

"We were attracted to Custom Consoles by the modular concept of their desks, for their evident experience and their ability to meet our relatively tight timescale: six weeks from order to delivery."

Introduced in 2005, Custom Consoles' Module-R series of technical furniture enables robust, efficient and attractive desk systems to be configured for a wide variety of supervisory environments. Module-R technical control desks can be integrated to individual requirements from a selection of high-quality desk pods, base sections, worktops, rear tops, end-panel modules and forward-angled silver-finished steel legs. The desk pods are available as single, dual and triple-bay sections with a choice of 3U, 6U or 8U chassis capacity. Cabinet construction is in high-quality grey-finished MDF with hard-wearing Linoleum work surfaces. Cable management ducts are integrated into all desk sections.

Suitable for a wide range of applications, Custom Consoles M-Desks are available as standard with a choice of light grey, steamed-beech or white beech work surfaces. They can also be supplied in client-selected colours. The desk top is 720 mm high on the fixed unit and 660 to 900 mm high on the adjustable version. A rotating handle on the latter desk enables individual users to adjust their operating position to a specific level or to vary the height while working. The handle is telescopic and can be retracted into the desk when not required. Independently height-adjustable feet at the base of each desk allow fine adjustment for variations in floor level. M-Desk is available in 1,200, 1,300 and 1,600 mm widths (models MD-1200, MD-1300 and MD-1600 respectively). All three desks have a 900 mm depth and are supplied complete with cable management and keyboard storage. Each desk is available with rigid feet or lockable castors.

Two 42 inch LCD display screens on the Ergotron tilting wall mounts enable St Regis' staff to view key operational parameters and quality measurements throughout the plant.

The Status Seating Endurance chairs are fitted with a thick layer of pressure-sensitive foam which distributes body weight more evenly over a larger surface area than any ordinary foam product. It also softens at body temperature to provide perfect support. When a new user sits down, the foam rapidly conforms to his or her shape.

Custom Consoles (www.customconsoles.co.uk) manufactures a broad range of studio and technical-support furniture including motorised, manually adjustable and fixed-height units plus fan-cooled sound-insulated equipment housings.
