G4S chooses Custom Consoles M-Desk for major installationNovember 2, 2006
Custom Consoles has completed the installation of a major M-Desk system for Group 4 Securicor, Britain's largest security company. G4S specialises in all aspects of security, including the deployment of security officers, electronic solutions, monitoring, crisis management, planning and training, and security advice. The installation includes a V-shaped main operating desk accommodating eight workstations. Each workstation is equipped with three 19 inch PC LCD screens on Ergotron monitor supports also supplied by Custom Consoles. A kidney-shaped M-Desk located at the apex of the operating desk gives the duty supervisor line-of-sight contact with each member of the team. Two additional M-Desks are housed in an adjacent administration area. A third M-Desk in the manager's office incorporates a semicircular auxiliary table for impromptu meetings. Custom Consoles was also chosen to provide matching storage furniture in the main operating room, administration and manager's offices. "Group 4 Securicor's decision to blend the room decor with the blue Marmoleum work surfaces and light maple woodwork of the M-Desk furniture and storage cabinets has resulted in a very harmonious overall working environment," comments Custom Consoles' Sales Manager Gary Fuller. "Each branch of the V-shape desk is curved, adding to the spacious effect while at the same time allowing easy front and rear access to the computers and concealed cabling. Patterned ventilation slots are located in the side and rear panels of the main operating desk and supervisor's desk." The furniture was specified by Remtech (Computer Security) Ltd (www.remtech.uk.com). Based in Epsom, Surrey, Remtech provides independent design services for and builds high-security environments for control rooms, computer rooms and storage areas using its unique ModuSec modular panel system.
